Tax preparation for the long course

Tax returns done right, with the long course in mind.

I prepare tax returns for people whose taxes are tied to bigger decisions: tech employees with stock compensation, retirees and small business owners in the Bay Area and beyond. Scroll to see how a season runs.

LEG 1 · SWIM

You arrive with choppy water.

A W-2 and a 1099-B that don't agree. A vest that changed your bracket. Withdrawals, Social Security and Medicare brackets that all interact. On a short call, you tell me what's going on; I tell you whether I'm a good fit and what it should cost.

Tech employees with RSUs, ISOs and ESPP
I reconcile your W-2 with your brokerage 1099-B so the same income isn't taxed twice.
Retirees
I prepare your return with next year in view, not just last year.
Small business owners
A steady tax partner, not a once-a-year scramble. I prepare returns; I don't do bookkeeping.
LEG 2 · BIKE

We work through it, mile by mile.

You upload documents to a private, encrypted portal. No email attachments. I prepare and review your return line by line, reconcile every stock lot, compare it with last year, and ask my questions all at once rather than in a trickle.

LEG 3 · RUN

You finish confident, with next year in view.

We go over the return together, you sign electronically, and I file. Then you get a short note on what to watch next year: estimated payments, withholding, upcoming vests or required distributions.

Pricing
Your fee depends on complexity, such as stock compensation, rentals or a business. You'll get a written quote before I start.

What working together feels like

You'll feel heard. Before we talk numbers, I want to understand what matters most to you. From there, I take the deadlines off your plate and keep the bigger picture in view, so each year's return fits where you're headed.

Endurance sports taught me that you run your own race. You don't need the fastest time to reach your own goal; you need a steady plan and someone to keep you on pace. That's the role I'd like to play at tax time.
